Q. Where does the name Blue-Eyed Birds come from?
A. The term Blue-Eyed Birds actually comes from an Iron and Wine song..."a pretty pair of blue-eyed birds." If you've ever met me you know that my own blue eyes stand out pretty prominently and they make it impossible for me to hide what I'm thinking or feeling at all times. When I was younger, I used to really dislike how vulnerable my eyes made me, but now I know what a real strength they are. Eyes are our path to connection, and mine have afforded me the gift of deep sensitivity and transparency. When I thought about what I wanted to name my business, I knew it had to be something that was memorable, and spoke to who I am. I am a deeply sensitive and intuitive being, and a rare bird of sorts. Besides, have you ever seen a blue-eyed bird? They're magical!
Q. Who are your clients?
A. I specialize in working with creative professionals of all disciplines, but most importantly women, marginalized voices, and socially conscious entrepreneurs. I am an empath, intuitive and highly sensitive person, so I work best with others who have a fully formed sense of identity and are conscientious about who they are and what they are looking to achieve. If you're saying to yourself, "Well I'm not creative," I promise to prove you wrong and I'd love to teach you some tools and tricks to express your creativity in ways only you can.
Q. How do you know what you know?
A. I have bachelor's degrees in psychology and english, and a masters of science in creativity, innovation and change leadership. I have spent the better part of the last 15 years studying personality and applying this knowledge to my work in counseling, creative writing, research, innovation strategy, curriculum design, coaching and leadership development. I am also a creative myself, which means I've experienced the highs and lows of doubt and know first hand the importance of cultivating a creative mindset and having a rich set of tools and skills.
Q. How long have you been doing what you're doing now?
A. I have done parts of what I'm doing now over the course of the last 10 years, but the decision to step out on my own and start a consulting business happened within the last few years. I may technically be new at this, but in some ways I've been doing this work my whole life. I have always been a teacher and a storyteller, a creative and a coach; these are innate traits that have expressed themselves in different ways, regardless of what I was doing professionally.
Q. How are you different from other business coaches?
A. Firstly, I would never call myself a business coach, but I do consult on business matters and my coaching does lead to improvements in one's profession. As I've said in my About Me section, I consider myself a Creativity Practitioner and Intuitive Coach. I'm still learning, and part of that is allowing my relationships with my clients to influence my approach. I have a unique background of skills and talents that stand out because of how deeply connected I am to the greater purpose of my work. I am a healer, through and through. You won't find any cheesy marketing slogans here. My work is holistic and I believe in engaging all parts of mind, body, and spirit in what I do.
Q.What should I know if i want to work with you
A. I am a self-improvement junky and I hope you are too! I love working with people who are deeply curious, who ask questions, who love learning and adapting, and who take risks. I am a highly sensitive person, intuitive, and empath, which means I can feel energy even hundreds of miles away. If we're working together, expect to be vulnerable. I make the same promise to you.
Q. Do you do in person or Zoom meetings?
A. I'm located in Rochester, NY and work from my home office. I conduct most of my meetings by phone or Zoom, but do in-person coaching and consulting for those that are local or around the upstate area. If you're located outside of this area, depending on the need, shoot me a message and we can figure out the best way to work together.
Q. What does working with you cost?
A. I offer three different hourly rates for each service tier:
Organizational Design - $500/hr
Creative Strategy - $350/hr
Confidence Coaching -$250/hr
That said, my method is to work with you to develop a plan (bi-montly x 6 months for example) where we agree on a cost upfront for the type of commitment you are making to yourself and that we are making together. We will set up a plan that we think best meets your needs in our initial 30 minute session, and if that needs adjusting as time goes on, we can decide that together. I am running a business, just like you, and of course need to charge for my services, but I'm also a person with compassion and who wants to make sure you get the most out of our work together.
